Lot # 1023: 1939 Eddie Collins Signed Typewritten "Most Thrilling Experience" Letter on Boston Red Sox Letterhead - 1917 World Series Victory - Full JSA LOA

Presented is a dated January 27, 1939, Eddie Collins (d.1951) typewritten and signed letter on Boston Red Sox letterhead. Measuring nearly 8-1/2 x 11" with typical fold lines, this piece is part of an exceptional autograph collection offered in this auction, in which legends of the game recount their most thrilling memory. The Class of 1939 Hall of Famer notes "...the sixth and last game of the 1917 World Series afforded me about as big a thrill in baseball as any I can remember. It was the occasion when Heinie Zimmerman chased me across the plate with the run that set the stage and resulted in the victory of the White Sox over the Giants." The autograph is well executed with a black steel-tip fountain pen. Despite reverse glue/paper residue and three punched holes along the left boundary, this archival piece still presents in overall excellent condition.
