Lot # 1021: 1939 Johnny Evers Handwritten and Signed "Most Thrilling Experience" Letter - 1902 Chicago Cubs Rookie Debut - Full JSA

Known as "The Human Crab" for his surly disposition, Class of 1946 Hall of Famer Johnny Evers (d.1947) was kind enough to not only satisfy an autograph request, but reveal personal baseball experiences on this dated March 10, 1939 handwritten and signed letter. Executed on a 3-1/4 x 2" notecard with micro black ink text, this piece is part of an exceptional autograph collection offered in this auction, in which legends of the game recount their most thrilling memory. The second figure in "baseball's sad lexicon" writes "...the biggest honor my entrance in 1902 as a member of the Chicago Cubs was my biggest thrill in baseball..." and concludes with "Tinker to Evers & Chance" before his autograph. On the flip, Evers also writes unsolicited "Johnny Kling Greatest Catcher in my times". A wonderful piece of Chicago Cubs history in upper tier condition. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.
