Lot # 1024: 1947 "Chief" Bender "Most Thrilling Experience" Handwritten and Signed Letter - 1910 No-Hitter Against Cleveland with Full JSA

Remarkable handwritten and signed letter from Philadelphia Athletics Hall of Famer "Chief" Bender dated March 3, 1947. This piece is part of an exceptional autograph collection offered in this auction in which legends of the game recount their most thrilling memory. For Bender, he starts his letter on American Baseball Club of Philadelphia letterhead with the date and recipient's information at top, and he proceeds to write: "In answer to your letter of recent date I will say that I think my biggest thrill was experienced on May 12th 1910 in a game between the "Athletics" and Cleveland when Ira Thomas our catcher made the last put out by catching a foul ball from the bat of Elmer Flick giving me a no hit no run game. Sincerely Yours, "Chief" Bender Scout of the "Athletics." Executed in blue ink, the letter presents well, with minor bleed evident. A few fold lines are present along with three hole punches on the left edge from binder storage at one point.
