Description

Forbes Field in Pittsburgh was the venue where this 1960 World Series ticket stub admitted one to Game 2, on October 6th. There wasn't much in the way of pitching duels in this high-scoring Fall Classic, which pitted the underdog Pittsburgh Pirates against the mighty New York Yankees. In all, fourteen home runs were hit in this Series, including three by Yankees great Mickey Mantle. The Yankees scored double digit runs in their three wins, while the Pirates only scored 10 runs once. As fate would have it, their 10th run of Game 7 broke a 9-9 tie. This memorable run came off the bat of Pirates hero Bill Mazeroski, who famously hit the first walk-off home run in World Series history in the bottom of the 9th, to clinch a championship for Pittsburgh. Getting back to Game 2, Bob Turley got the win in a 16-3 Yankees victory, while Mantle hit World Series career home runs #12 and #13. This nicely preserved ticket stub is encapsulated by PSA with a pleasing grade of EX-MT 6. This favorable rating makes it "1 of 8" at this grading tier, with only 1 rated higher.
