Lot # 1289: 1959 Go-Go! Chicago White Sox World Series Satin Banner - Tough!

We never imagined we’d be saying this, but if flying socks are your thing, you’ve come to the right place. The winged hose in this case, is the famous Chicago White Sox logo, which centers this tough 1959 World Series banner. Measuring 20” x 28” including the bottom fringe, this purple satin herald hosts the legend “Welcome Champion White Sox 1959 World Series Visitors”. Of course, this piece wouldn’t be complete with the ’59 Sox motivational motto “Go! Go!”, which is incorporated with the center logo. Wear is moderate, mostly in the form of cracks on the white lettering/graphics, and some color mottling on the purple field. A wood stick inserted trough the top has flagploe finials on the ends, and a yellow hanging twine is securely attached. The fringe and the edge trim are in excellent condition, and overall this piece is a visual delight, with great period appeal.
