Bank on an iconic baseball mascot, when you make the winning deposit for this 1950s Gibbs-Conner Brooklyn Bum mascot coin bank. The affection Brooklynites for felt the Dodgers in those days, was commonly expressed in conversation, with “Dem Bums”. A whimsical manifestation of this love-hate relationship, this Dodgers Bum bank stands 7” tall, on a 4-1/2” x 2” base, that does not have a rubber stopper plugged into the underside. Blessed with an arresting design, bold colors, and radiant glaze, this bright, clean figural is a very attractive (NM) example. Wear is minimal, however there are two spots where it appears the glaze did not take during the factory firing, a 1/4” spot on the back of the baseball coin reservoir, and a sliver on the edge of the Bums’ left ear. These conditions are factory flaws, as opposed to attrition, and have no impact on the appeal of this choice example, when viewed from the front.
