This October 14th game was contested at Metropolitan Stadium in Minnesota, and it turned out to be the clincher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, who needed all seven games to vanquish a game Minnesota Twins squad. The hero was Series MVP Sandy Koufax, who famously declined the honor of starting Game 1, in observance of the Jewish holy day Yom Kippur. Though he suffered a loss to Jim Kaat in Game 2, Koufax came back to notch complete game shutout wins in Games 5 and 7, saddling Kaat with the loss in both games. Leftfielder Lou Johnson reportedly told Koufax he would provide the only run the lefthanded ace would need and made good on his prediction with a home run in the top of the fourth.
