Description

Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis presides over the auction scene, with this singed original sketch. Following the "Black Sox" scandal, Landis was brought in to clean house, as Major League Baseball's first commissioner, a position he ruled with an iron hand until his death in 1944. Shortly after his passing, he was elected to the Hall of Fame in a special vote. Sized at 5-5/8" x 8-7/8", this twice-folded sketch is an accurate portrayal of the dour-faced commissioner. Landis has provided a large and in charge signature of sharp quality at bottom, where his arm is resting on a baseball stadium rail.
