Lot # 1069: Tony Lazzeri Signed Cut with Full JSA

A key man in the 1927 New York Yankees "Murderer's Row" lineup stands as a high-profile target, with the offering of this Tony Lazzeri cut signature. Though he played in the shadow of all-time greats "Babe" Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Joe DiMaggio, the elite second baseman was a vital contributor to five Yankees World Series championship teams. Lazzeri proved proficient with the pen as well, as evidenced by this potently signed 4" x 1-3/4" cut. His premature death in 1946 came at the age of 42, making the acquisition of his signature a challenging task. In 1991, the Hall of Fame Veterans Committee corrected a long-running oversight by choosing the deserving Lazzeri for enshrinement.
