Score a top shelf prize, when you top the bidding for this Thurman Munson single-signed bat. Labeled Louisville Slugger 125, Genuine S44, this Munson signature model bat reports handsomely, in well-preserved state. Munson has signed boldly, just down the barrel from the burned in facsimile example of his signature. A driving force for the New York Yankees throughout the 1970s at the plate and behind it, Munson earned a lot of hardware during his abbreviated career. A 2X World Series champion in 1977-1978, Munson was also a 7X All-Star, 3X Gold Glove winner, AL Rookie of the Year in 1970, and AL MVP 1976. In respect for his grit, talent and leadership qualities, Munson was named team captain in 1976, a title that hadn't been used since Lou Gehrig last suited up in pinstripes. Tragically, Munson died at the age of 32, when he crashed his personal jet during landing practice at the Akron–Canton Airport in August 1979.
