Description

From the land of “you don’t see one these everyday”, comes this 1935 Boston Braves celluloid season press pass. Issued during “Babe” Ruth’s final season, and his only one with the Boston Braves, this relic is an exceedingly rare find. A visual pun, this 2” x 1” celluloid pass is formatted as a handheld fan. Printed on the obverse is the legend “Boston Braves, A Real Fan, Season 1935”. The name of longtime Boston sportswriter Mr. Ed Rumill is written boldly on the obverse, with his surname misspelled as “Rummill”. Rumill covered the Red Sox and the Braves, mostly writing for The Christian Science Monitor, but also for The Sporting News. Printed on the reverse is “Personal Courtesy, Non-Transferable, Press No. 39”. At bottom, is a pre-punched hole, with the facsimile signature of team president Emil Fuchs located directly above on the obverse. The surface is clean, the graphics and lettering are bold, and the edges are sharp, while wear in minimal, adding up to Nm rating for this rare press pass.
