Description

Thirty-two-page program from the 1915 “Trans-Continental Tour” of the American and National League baseball stars. We believe this tour was organized to capitalize on the great fanfare of the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco and the 1915 Panama-California Exposition in San Diego. This program has great significance as a rare relic of an early baseball tour and also because it includes a team photo of the 1915 World Champion Boston Red Sox featuring Babe Ruth in his first full season in the Major Leagues. Among the highlights in the program are photos and short biographies of the twenty-two players on the tour, including Johnny Evers, Max Carey, Wally Schang, Jake Daubert, and Heinie Groh. The program also provides a brief history of baseball, as well as an account in words and pictures of the 1913-1914 World Tour. This 6-3/4" x 10" program remains reasonably attractive despite a detached but present centerfold, spots of adhesive/paper residue on the back cover, and a bit of surface loss at the bottom-left corner on the front.
