A 1913-14 Baseball World Tour featuring the Chicago White Sox and the New York Giants, was planned by Sox owner Charles Comisky and manager John McGraw of the New York Giants. This barnstorming tour was meant to bring baseball all around the globe and was a great success.
This 8x11 leather-bound book with “The Homecoming – N.L. Collier” on the cover, was given to contributing illustrator Nate Collier, who was a political cartoonist with the Chicago Journal at that time . The inside features one of his cartoons which depicts a pair of white socks encircling the globe. Other pages feature player photos and panoramic photos of the Polo Grounds, as well as Comiskey Park. The album is fragile, and the leather is coming apart. The inside pages, however, remain appealing.
