Description

A remarkable antique souvenir surfaces in the form of this 1916 celluloid pocket schedule. Akin to an umpire's counter in promotional giveaway form, this advertising premium is outfitted with three wheels to track the schedules of both the Boston Red Sox and Boston Braves, along with the number of trumps in a Bridge card game. This well-preserved pocket schedule was issued by the Massachusetts Breweries Company to promote the brands Alley's East India Stock Ale on the Red Sox side, and Pfaff's Beer on the Braves side. Condition is very pleasing, with bold lettering, nice gloss, fully functioning wheels, and surprisingly light wear. 1916 was a banner year for the Sox, as they repeated as World Series champions. The Braves were recent World Series winners as well, having earned a championship in 1914, making "Beantown" the home of three consecutive championship teams from 1914-1916. This outstanding promotional item is a fantastic souvenir of this glorious era for Boston baseball.
