Description

Despite winning a World Series as manager for the 1912 Boston Red Sox (105-47 record), Jake Stahl still had a below .500 winning percentage during his four seasons as manager. The hard luck skipper of the Washington Nationals appears quite dapper on the offered large format cabinet photograph. This uncommon oversized albumen portrait of the 26-year-old field general measures 6-1/2 x 9" and is neatly affixed to its original mount with raised framing accents measuring overall 9-1/2 x 12" dimensions. The capable Stahl also played first base for the Nationals and is precisely captured during his 1904-1906 tenure with the club. Limited flaking near the bottom portion of the cabinet does not seriously impact this artifact's overall presentation. The reverse mount confirms the subject's identity in pencil and displays further notations along with a pair of tape strips. Exceptional clarity!
