Baseball historians make a nice grab with the capture of this 1905 Boston Americans Official Score Card. This antique gameday souvenir dates from the fifth season of the Boston franchise's existence. This was so long ago, that Red Sox were still known as the Americans, and it was still seven years before they would move into Fenway Park. At the time, the Americans home field was the Huntington Avenue Grounds, and the visiting team was the St. Louis Browns. Based on Freddy Parent leading off for the Americans, the scoring grids are recorded for what was likely a late season contest that took place from September 21st-23rd, when the competing squads played five games in three days. Hall of Famers Jimmy Collins and Bobby Wallace are listed respectively in the lineups for the Americans and the Browns. The front cover and a couples of pages are completely detached, and the back cover and two other pages are partially connected, though the program appears to be complete. Despite the detachments, this ancient publication remains reasonably attractive, particularly the front over, which is clean and fairly bright. The Back cover sports a full-page ad for the Moxie beverage brand. Among numerous local advertisements, the interior pages include a complete 1905 American League schedule, and a list of the 1904 AL leading batters, with Nap Lajoie topping the list.
