On February 2, 1926, the National League celebrated its 50th anniversary by holding a festive banquet at the Hotel Astor in New York. To commemorate the occasion, attendees at the dinner received a special boxed set of two official National League baseballs. Offered here is one of the baseballs from that boxed set. This special relic, an official National League baseball (Heydler), is decorated with small sepia portraits of each of the past eight presidents of the league. The presidents featured on the ball, in order, are Morgan Bulkeley, William Hulbert, Abraham Mills, Nicholas Young, Harry Pulliam, Thomas Lynch, John Tener, and John Heydler. The ball displays consistent toning throughout with smalls areas of age spotting and tiny staining. Each of the portraits remains crisp with minor imperfections visible, including small spots of chipping to three images. Good condition overall, and a very rare memento from this significant anniversary.
