Interesting barnstorming scorecard from a 1902 exhibition between the Boston Beanteaters and the "Manchesters". The club from New Hampshire would finish 1st in the New England League this season, managed by Phenomenal Smith. Per Wikipedia, Smith is "credited with discovering Christy Mathewson in 1899 and developing him into an outstanding pitcher during the 1900 season". Pictured on the front alongside team captain Win Clark, the cover remains very attractive despite a moderate, yet non-intrusive, vertical crease which penetrates the entirety of the fold out scorecard. The interior has been neatly scored, featuring notable Boston stalwarts such as Duff Cooley, Ed Gremminger (mis-spelled) and Fred Tenney. Despite some discoloration and surface loss on the back cover, this nearly 125 year old relic will be a welcomed addition to any New England-centric collection.
