Description

Remarkable original photograph featuring the Bacharach Giants of the Negro Leagues circa 1922. The Bacharach Giants were a prominent Negro League team based in Atlantic City, New Jersey, during the 1920s. They were considered one of the more competitive and respected franchises in Black baseball, with Hall of Famer Pop Lloyd playing for and managing the team at various points during the decade. The offered photograph depicts thirteen members of the team (all but one of whom are wearing Bacharach Giants caps and jerseys) posed on the field. Measuring approximately 8 x 10 inches, the photograph displays outstanding clarity and detail but also a number of condition flaws, including chipping at the edges, heavy creasing, and missing stock around the perimeter. Incredibly, the important central image is largely spared of these issues, making for an ideal display. The blank reverse displays heavy toning and evidence of the photograph having been folded at one time. Accompanied by a PSA/DNA Type I letter of authenticity. This is an outstanding photograph capturing this significant Negro League team!
