Description

Find yourself a big winner, when you score this Ted Williams game-used bat. Wielded by Williams while he was in the employ of the Boston Red Sox, this Louisville Slugger signature model 01 bat dates from the period 1946-1947. Along with his 1941 campaign, which he finished as the last MLB player to bat .400, this period was as important as it got for Williams. Upon his return from WWII military service, he won his first of two AL MVP awards in 1946. He followed up that honor, by turning in a Triple Crown season in 1947. Williams also made his only trip to the World Series in 1946, and this mighty war club may well have been in his hands during Fall Classic play.

Two accompanying LOAs cite considerable evidence of heavy use attributing to a professionally repaired handle crack, two tape rings and a light coating of pine tar on the handle, checking on the barrel back from repeated ball contact, and many ball marks, stitch impressions, and cleat impressions around the barrel. A Williams facsimile signature is burned into the barrel, and the model number 01 is impressed into the knob. Truly a splendid relic from one baseball's very best careers, this historic gamer positions as a crown jewel for an advanced game-used equipment collection.

The accompanying full LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA cited a grade of GU 8.

The accompanying full LOA from Mears cites a grade of A8.
