Description

Bob Skinner Hillerich & Bradsby signature-model bat ("P97") dating from the 1964 manufacturing period. Graded GU 9 by PSA/DNA. The bat displays evidence of moderate use, including a slight crack in the handle which has been repaired and blue bat rack streaks. Skinner's uniform number ("19") appears on both the knob and barrel end in black marker. Skinner spent a total of twelve seasons in the majors as a player with the Pirates, Reds, and Cardinals, and was named to multiple All-Star Games. Skinner was part of the 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates team, led by Roberto Clemente, that won the World Series. In June of 1964 (the labeling period of this offered bat) Skinner was traded from the Reds to the Cardinals and would go on to win the World Series with the club, beating the Mickey Mantle led Yankees for championship for the second time in his career. Skinner appeared in games 1, 2, 3, and 6 of the series. Spending more than fifty years total in the majors, Skinner would go on to coach in the league until 1988, winning another World Series with the Pirates in 1979. Length: 35.0 inches. Weight: 31.3 ounces. Full LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
