Big moments in Cincinnati Reds history are recalled, with this collection of seven World Series ticket stubs. These vintage gameday souvenirs are from the Reds 1961 NL pennant-winning season, and their back-to-back World Series championships in 1975-1976.
After putting the Los Angeles Dodgers in their rear view mirror in 1961, the Reds advanced to the Fall Classic. There they came up against one of the greatest teams in history, the 1961 New York Yankees. From this historic occasion, we have two Crosley Field ticket stubs from Yankees wins, with Game 3 (GD), which saw home runs by Maris and Blanchard; and the series clincher Game 5 (PR), which featured home runs by Blanchard, Lopez, F. Robinson, and Post.
Next we have two Riverfront Stadium ticket stubs from Game 5 of the 1975 World Series, both (VG-EX); and one Fenway Park ticket stub from Game 7 (VG). This famous series between the Reds and the Boston Red Sox, is widely regarded as one of the best-played and most exciting of all-time. The Reds won both of these games, including the series clincher in Game 7, and Perez hit a home run in both games.
Finally we have two Riverfront Stadium ticket stubs from Game 1 of the 1976 World Series, both (GD+), with Morgan hitting the only home run of the game. Revenge for their 1961 postseason loss was exacted by "The Big Red Machine", as they steamrolled the Yankees in a four-game sweep of this series.
