Dave Kingman Hillerich & Bradsby signature-model bat ("S2") dating from the 1975 manufacturing period, Kingman's first season with the Mets. Graded GU 9 by PSA/DNA. The bat displays evidence of excellent use, including ball marks (with black-ink transfers) on the cracked barrel, red and blue bat rack streaks, and cleat marks. Kingman's uniform number ("26") appears on both the knob and cupped-barrel end in black marker. Kingman has signed the barrel and written the inscription "To Bob Best Always" in black ink. Known as one of the premier sluggers of his era, Kingman twice led the National League in home runs and was named to the All-Star Game three times in his career. The 1975 season saw Kingman hit thirty-six home runs for the Mets, marking his first thirty home run season and setting a franchise record at the time (Kingman would go on to break the record the following season). At the end of his sixteen year career, Kingman had amassed 442 home runs. Length: 35.25 inches. Weight: 34.7 ounces. Full LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA (for the bat only). Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA (for the signature only). The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
