Presented is a scarce Bill Dickey Draper-Maynard store-model brown-leather catcher's mitt dating from the 1930s. Player-endorsed sporting goods became quite popular dating to the dawn of professional equipment in the 19th century, and the tradition continued in full force throughout the 1930s when Dickey starred for the New York Yankees in what would go on to be a Hall of Fame career. The right-handed glove features a number of pocket stampings, including the model number (DG975) underneath the familiar D&M Draper-Maynard Athletic Goods logo. Along the thumb panel appears the facsimile signature of Bill Dickey alongside "Autograph Model," and "Flex-Pad" appears in the palm cushion. All lacing and grommets are intact, and the leather, which remains fairly supple, exhibits moderate wear throughout. In Very Good condition overall.
