Pair of circa 1930s player-endorsed store-model gloves from Hall of Famers Leon "Goose" Goslin and Rogers Hornsby. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot. Player-endorsed sporting goods became quite popular dating to the dawn of professional equipment in the 19th century, and the tradition continued in full force throughout the 1930s when both Goslin and Hornsby starred for their respective teams in what would go on to be Hall of Fame careers. The right-handed Goslin glove exhibits a number of stampings in the palm, including "Fielder's Glove Professional Model" and "Tempered in Oil" as well as "Goose Goslin" and "Jack Berger" in the heel, but a manufacturer's stamping is not visible. The leather is heavily worn and the interior padding exhibits flaking and breaking due to heavy wear. The hand strap has detached from one side and is held in place by a safety pin and the lacing between the thumb and the index finger has been replaced by string. The left-handed Hornsby glove is a Wilson model 972, and displays a number of stampings in the palm, including "Rajah Hornsby," most of which are heavily faded. The outside of the glove displays light wear while the pocket displays moderate to heavy wear. The name of a former owner is written in marker on the hand strap. A collectible pair of player-endorsed gloves from the 1930s. Total: 2 gloves. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
