Description

While mystery shrouds the affiliation of this 1930s-1940s Braves flannel baseball jersey, the maker is positively identified by a Lowe & Campbell size 40 label on the left front tail. Upon casual viewing, this vintage jersey resembles those worn by the Major League Braves. The tomahawk logo is consistent, but the breast lettering is not outlined, and there are styling differences, particularly on the letters B and E. Founded 1912 in Kansas City, Lowe & Campbell was acquired by Wilson in 1931 and continued to produce goods under the Lowe & Campbell banner until 1961. The Boston Braves had multiple minor league affiliates using the Braves name during the 1930s-1940s, with the most prominent team located in Evansville. The closest Braves team to Kansas City, was the Leavenworth squad affiliated with the Braves from 1946-1948. Wear is light, and this vintage jersey presents handsomely, with the patches and accents showing great integrity, including the number 22 seen on the back.
