The 1954 world champion New York Giants are recalled, with this original New York Daily Mirror 11" x 14" photograph. Under the guidance of Hall of Fame manager Leo Durocher, the 1954 Giants didn't just beat the heavily favored, 111-win Cleveland Indians in the World Series, they swept them in four games, thanks in part to "The Catch" by Willie Mays, and some timely hitting heroics by "Dusty" Rhodes. Seen in this oversized photograph, are Durocher at center of the first row, and fellow Hall of Famers Mays fourth from left in the second row, Monte Irvin sixth from right in the second row, and Hoyt Wilhelm second from left in the second row. Also noted are aces Johnny Antonelli, Sal Maglie, and Ruben Gomez; stars Rhodes, Al Dark, Don Mueller, "Whitey" Lockman, and Hank Thompson; future NBC sportscaster Joe Garagiola; and coach Freddie Fitzsimmons. Though this vintage photograph rates as GD due to moderate creases, it still presents handsomely, with distinct images, and nice gloss.
