A pair of heavyweight comic book creators joined forces, to make this August, 1940 Novelty Press Blue Bolt #3 issue a smashing success. The brainchild of Joe Simon, Blue Bolt was first published in June, 1940, two months prior to this third issue. Simon began collaborating with the great Jack Kirby as writers and artists, starting with the July, 1940 second issue. This genius dream team duo continued churning out Blue Bolt tales through issue #10. The first six Blue Bolt comics predate the historic creation of Captain America by Simon and Kirby, a title that hit the newsstands with a #1 issue dated December, 1940.
The second comic book that Simon and Kirby ever worked on together, this Blue Bolt #3 issue is a true hobby treasure. Simon's captivating cover is visual delight, that sees the dynamic Blue Bolt leading the charge, with his lightning gun at the ready. The names of other characters featured in this issue are seen on a yellow bar at bottom, with Sub-Zero Man, Sergeant Spook, Superhorse, Phantom Sub, Dick Cole. and Runaway Ronson. CGC has seen fit to grade this Golden Age classic 3.5, and the cover remains very impressive. This attractive super-hero comic ranks as one of two, with eight higher, on CGC's Census, out of a total population of just sixteen CGC graded examples.
