A scarce Golden Age comic book is presented, with this October, 1940 Novelty Press Blue Bolt #5 issue. Graced with writing and artwork by supreme comic beings Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, this issue predates their creation of Captain America by two months, making it one of the earliest works by the Simon and Kirby team. Fronted by a riveting cover, this early super-hero comic is quite scarce. Though CGC has encapsulated this book in a Universal Grade holder with a rating of 1.0, it still stands tall, as the best looking "1" we've ever seen. What really drives the value of this ancient issue, is the small surviving population. To date, CGC has graded just seven examples of this issue in Universal Grade holders, indicating it is a very tough find. Label notes are "Bill O'Connor story, W.E. Rowland cover, Bill Everett, Jack Kirby, Paul Gustavson, Joe Simon and Bob Davis stories and art.".
