Make a wise choice to go all in for this Fall 1943 Timely Comics All Select Comics #1 issue. Starring Timely's "Big Three", Captain America, Human Torch, and Sub-Mariner, this title ran for eleven issues, from 1943-1945. This #1 issue is greatly prized for Alex Schomburg's classic cover, its first issue status, and of course the Big Three. Beyond that, this seldom seen WWII-era treasure features the last of five Golden Age stories about the Black Widow. Weaponized by Satan, this intriguing, death-dealing character was sent back to the realm of the living, to consign the souls of the wicked to Hell for eternal damnation.
CGC has just returned this long-secluded classic, with a grade of 1.0, Slightly Brittle Pages. To date, CGC has graded 123 copies of this issue, though only 79 are in Universal Grade holders, with the others being restored, qualified, signed, or conserved examples. So even this humble 1.0 graded copy stacks up as a mighty important, complete and unrestored copy, a great find for collectors of Golden Age super-hero comics. Label notes are "Alex Schomburg cover, Don Rico, Chic Stone, Dan Barry and Al Bellman art. Captain America, Human Torch and Sub-Mariner begin. Black Widow story. Classic cover.".
