Vigilante super-hero The Shadow looms large over the Capitol dome, on the front cover of this 1934 Street & Smith The Shadow #45 (volume 8, #3) pulp magazine. Spawned by a thrilling radio program, the Shadow was the first pulp hero character, and is generally considered the genre's best. Issues from his first year of print in 1931, are quite scarce, and issues from 1932-1934 are cited as uncommon. Dated January 1, 1934, this issue falls in the uncommon date range. The vibrant cover is a masterpiece, and preservation quality is admirable. CGC has encapsulated this well-kept pulp with a grade of 5.0, Off-White to White Pages. This rating makes this vintage issue "1 of 3" highest graded examples on CGC's Population Report. Label notes credit the creators as "Cover by George Rozen, Tom Lovell art, Walter B. Gibson story".
