Description

While WWII was winding down, foreign agents were still depicted coming to a red, white and blue impasse on the front cover of this 8/45 Timely Comics Captain America Comics #49 issue. That's because the tradition of comic books hitting the newsstands months before their stated publication date, was the order of the day. The patriotic stoppers foiling the enemy saboteurs, are iconic super-heroes Captain America and Bucky Barnes, who are seen forcefully putting an end to an attempt to destroy a U.S. Air Force gasoline reserve facility. Any Captain America comic from this period would count as a great find. This more than satisfactory example lands near the middle of the grading scale, in vibrant state, with a CGC rating of 4.0, Slightly Brittle Pages. Label notes are "Carmine Infantino, Vince Alascia, and Mike Sekowsky art, Alex Schomburg cover. Human Torch story. Hitler appearance.".
