Captain America makes a timely appearance, with this 1/43 Timely Comics Captain America Comics #22 issue. It doesn't get much better for WWII era comics, than the front cover provided by master Syd Shores for this triumphant Golden Age issue. Cap is a star-spangled fury at the center of the action, as he leads U.S. Marines on an invasion of a Pacific island held by Japanese forces. Trusty sidekick Bucky is manning a machine gun at right, and the issue promises more action with a backup story featuring the Human Torch, who makes a cover appearance in a bottom right inset. CGC has graded this fantastic battle issue 3.0, Cream to Off-White Pages. If not for binder hole punches along the spine, this comic looks as though it would have graded VG+. This book was examined prior to grading submission, and the hole punches affect the border only, not the art panels. Label notes are "Harry Sahle, Al Avison, Don Rico and Al Gabriele art, Syd Shores cover. Hitler appearance. Human Torch backup story.".
