Description

Things are heating up with the presentation of this 8/43 Timely Comics Marvel Mystery Comics #46 issue. WWII was devasting the planet, and the domestic comic book scene was on fire, serving up super-heroes who were doing their part to combat the evil Axis powers. Prolific artist Alex Schomburg had a field day with the wild scene fronting this Golden Age gem. You've got a green-faced Hitler sitting on his swastika throne, with a bug-eyed, wizened worm crawling out of his left ear. Toro and a red-haired beauty are seen in bondage, being lowered in a spiked metal tub. There are Nazi zombies, ghouls and goons everywhere. A vulture waits patiently for a meal, perched atop Hitler's gruesome throne, which is decorated with human skulls and bones. Then in flies the Human Torch, bursting the roof to save the day. Ok, deep breath now. It's easy to see why this Marvel Mystery Comics #46 has earned a "classic cover" reputation, and this high demand pre-code issue is ready to earn a spot in your prized collection. CGC has graded this ancient comic 1.8, Cream to Off-White Pages. Label notes are "Alex Schomburg cover, Bob Oksner, Syd Shores, Gus Hetman, Harry Sahle and Carl Pfeufer art. Classic Hitler cover. Bondage cover.".
