Lot # 1655: 2004 Kent Mercker Game-Used Chicago Cubs Home Jersey

Journeyman hurler Kent Mercker enjoyed one of his finest seasons, when he suited up for game action in this 2004 Chicago Cubs home jersey. Mercker moved around quite a bit during his 18 seasons in the Majors, with 13 stints for 9 different teams. During the 2004 season, he made 71 of his 692 career appearances for the Cubs, recording a 3-1 record, a 1.7 WAR, and a 2.55 ERA. Though he appeared in a high number of games in 2004, all 71 appearances were as a reliever. His total number of innings pitched was 53, which would explain why this jersey shows just a light degree of use/wear. The polyester material is bright white and the blue and red patches are radiant. The jersey is properly tagged, with an identifier plate inside the collar embroidered with "50 48 04 S2", for player number, size, season and uniform set number". A Majestic factory label with an MLB Authentic logo is located on the left-front tail, with an adjacent size 48 tag attached below. Team patches include the Cubs logo on the front, a bear cub mascot in stride on the left sleeve and Mercker's number 50 on the back. Also seen on the back, is an MLB logo patch, and there's a Majestic logo on the left sleeve below the mascot patch.
