Lot # 1651: 2001 Curt Schilling Arizona Diamondbacks Team-Issued Home Jersey - Phil Wood LOA & Full JSA LOA

A winning season is recalled, with the presentation of this Curt Schilling signed 2001 Arizona Diamondbacks team-issued home jersey. This very attractive jersey represents the Diamondbacks first and only World Series championship season. It was also Schilling's first 20-win season, as he racked up a regular season record of 22-6, and then was named co-MVP of the World Series, sharing the honor with teammate Randy Johnson.

Hall of Fame voters most certainly dropped the ball by not voting Schilling in. If the voting were based solely on his on-field performances, Schilling would be a lock, thanks to his 216 wins and 3,116 strikeouts versus 711 base on balls, in 3,261 innings pitched. A big game pitcher if there ever was one, Schilling always wanted the ball in high leverage situations, and his postseason resume it full-on astonishing, with an 8-2 record in 19 games, including the 2004 ALCS "bloody sock" game, Those who saw him pitch will surely remember him actually getting stronger as games progressed, often throwing harder in late innings than he did in the early innings.

An accompanying LOA from Phil Wood declares this Diamondbacks jersey pristine, with no signs of wear, and asserts the jersey is a genuine team-issued example, tailored for Schilling. A Rawlings Authentic Collection factory label located on the left-front tail has two adjacent tags, with the size "50" below, and "Set 2 2001" at right, for uniform set number and season.
