Description

A common denominator is found in this collection of (12) signed 1940s-1950s government postcards and index card. All of the subject played for the Washington Senators at one time or another, from 1908-1960. The majority of these cards are government postcards dated 1948, though one is dated 1949, another is dated 1958, and one is an index card that is not dated. The star of the bunch is a 1948 Senators team-signed GPC, with (9) signatures. While the cards are somewhat weathered, the signatures range from firm to downright bold.

1948 Senators team-signed government postcard with (9) signatures: Early Wynn (HOF), Forrest Thompson (d.1979), Ray Scarborough (d.1982), Mickey Vernon, Mark Christman (d.1976), Tom Ferrick, Len Okrie, Earl Wooten, Nick Altrock (d.1965).

1948 single-signed government postcards: Mickey Vernon, Frank "Spec" Shea, Cass Michaels (d.1982), Bruce Edwards (d.1975), Eddie Robinson, Al Kozar, Gil Coan, Walter Masterson.

1949 single-signed government postcards: Elmer Valo.

1958 single-signed government postcards: Nick Altrock.

Index cards: Al Schacht (d.1984).
