Tom Gastall was a promising "bonus baby" for the fledgling Baltimore Orioles when we was killed in a September 1956 plane crash in the Chesapeake Bay. The offered 3-1/2 x 6" black-and-white Kodak postcard was penned by the ill-fated backstop in the days prior to his passing. Despite moderate crazing to the glossy front surface, the blue ballpoint pen autograph, while faint, is still immediately recognizable. One of the scarcest signatures of the "early birds." Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.
