Lot # 1030: Earle Combs 1948 "Most Thrilling Experience" Signed Handwritten Letter with 1927 World Series Winning Run Content

Over several decades, Mr. Oliver Compton of Bridgewater, New Jersey sent letters to multiple Major League players asking them to relate their most thrilling experience in baseball. This is just one of the many offered in this auction. Meticulously collected, the letters average Excellent condition or better.

Earle Combs signed handwritten letter on 8 ¼ x 10 ¾ “Hotel Kenmore - Boston, Massachusetts” stationery dated Sept. 2, 1948, shows removal from an album with three punch holes and evidence of paper removal on back. The Hall of Fame pitcher writes, “In 1927 when I scored the winning run against Pittsburgh to make it four straight and the World Championship was a thrill too”

Signed “Sincerely, Earl Combs.” (“9-10”) in black pen.
