Description

Take a kingly seat with this 1890-1963 New York Giants Polo Grounds stadium seat. This rare chair is a double figural type with "NY" Giants team logo letters on both of the metal side uprights. Both iron sidearms are marked on the inside, with "340 R" on the right and "340 LH" on the left. Approximate dimensions are 21" wide by 17" deep by 29" high, and the four legs are bolted to an added wood base with a letter "H" configuration. Moderate to considerable wear provides tremendous authentic appeal to this unrestored example, and the hardware is period, matching up with photos of many other known examples. Two brass plates are located on the seat back, with an oval location plate for seat "DD8", and a modern added rectangular plate engraved with the years of the venerable stadium's operation and the names of the teams it hosted.
