Lot # 1720: 1890s John L. Sullivan Champion of the World Souvenir Card SGC FAIR 1.5

One can only wonder if the great John L. Sullivan got his strength from his magnificent moustache, the way biblical Samson got his strength from his long hair. Surely the secret went to the grave with himself more than a hundred years ago, but the last of the bare-knuckle boxing champions and his prodigious facial hair live on in this circa 1890s souvenir card. Sized at 4-1/2" x 6-1/2", this dapper antique photograph card is captioned "John L. Sullivan, Champion of the World". SGC has encapsulated this splendid card with a grade of 20 FAIR 1.5.
