Lot # 1034: "Sad" Sam Jones "Most Thrilling Experience" Signed Handwritten Letter with 1923 No-Hitter Content

Over several decades, Mr. Oliver Compton of Bridgewater, New Jersey sent letters to multiple Major League players asking them to relate their most thrilling experience in baseball. This is just one of the many offered in this auction. Meticulously collected, the letters average Excellent condition or better.

“Sad” Sam Jones signed letter on 7 ½ x 10 ½ “Sam P. Jones – Woodfield Ohio” stationary. He writes, “pitching a no-hit game on September the 4th, 1923 against the Athletics in Shibe Park” and he relates how thrilled he was with all the congratulations afterwards.
