Description

Bank a trio of New York Yankees Hall of Fame legends, with the acquisition of this triple-signed Yankees payroll check in framed display. Dated Oct. 3, 1925, this century-old, team-issued check is signed by owner Jacob Ruppert (d.1939), general manager Ed Barrow (d.1953), and the payee, star pitcher Waite Hoyt (d.1984). Truly a dynamic presentation, this magnificent 24" x 30" display features an ensemble cast of postcards and patches, centered by a photograph of Ruppert. The check is positioned directly below the Ruppert portrait, and a copy of the back of the check is located at bottom. The signatures of Barrow and Ruppert are seen on the check's obverse, and Hoyt has endorsed on the reverse. All three signatures are distinct applications, with Ruppert's John Hancock presenting as exceptionally bold. A cutout on the back of the frame showcases the check reverse, with the Hoyt signature visible.

Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA.

NOTE: This signed item is in an acrylic holder and can be removed, safely and without tape marks, from matboard if so desired
