As his Hall of Fame career was coming to an end, rock steady shortstop Phil Rizzuto was honored by the New York Yankees on September 18, 1955. From this Phil Rizzuto Day ceremony, comes this Yankees presentation plate. One of the many gifts bestowed upon Rizzuto and his family during the Yankee Stadium ceremony, this remarkably well-preserved plate is a gleaming treasure. Centered by the Yankees classic team logo, this gold-rimmed plate in ornately lettered with the name "Phil Rizzuro" at top, and the legend "To A Champion On His Day, September 18, 1955". Located above the legend, is Rizzuto's uniform number "10". An elegant presentation, this 71-year-old keepsake is housed in a 17" x 17" x 2" gilted frame, fronted with museum quality glass. Affixed to the back of the frame are photocopies of the plate's reverse side, showing the facsimile signatures of his Yankees teammates, including Casey Stengel, Bill Dickey, Mickey Mantle, Yogie Berra and Whitey Ford, along with the name B. Stuebner's Sons of Brooklyn, who decorated the Made in Germany plate.
