Lot # 1469: 1930s Champions Clock with Joe Louis, Red Grange & Babe Ruth

Add a majestic touch to your office or man cave, with this dynamic 1930s mantle clock. Titled "Champions" on the front of the base, this captivating metal figural clock features a multi-sport lineup of legendary titans, with Babe Ruth, Red Grange, Joe Louis, Max Schmeling, Babe Didrikson, Helen Wills, two racehorses, an oarsman, a sledder, and at top, a referee positioned between the boxing combatants. Standing approximately 10-1/2" tall on a 12" x 4" base, this magnificent artifact is a visual delight, with tremendous display appeal. A healthy patina acquired over decades of existence, provides a wonderful look of period authenticity, and detail definition remains excellent, with the majority of the moderate wear occurring on the back. The clock face is printed with "Produced by the United Clock Corp. of Brooklyn" at bottom. The cord and plug are securely attached, and the clock ran fine when tested.
