Feed your collection a tasty treat, when you bring home this 1938 Post Huskies Whole Wheat Flakes cereal box featuring Johnny Vander Meer. "The Dutch Master" enjoyed a breakout year in 1938, posting a 15-10 season that was highlighted by back-to-back no-hitters on June 11th and June 15th. Vander Meer's singular accomplishment is detailed on the back panel of this vintage breakfast cereal box, which retains a solid shape. In addition to packaging the popular Huskies cereal brand, this box also provides some nutritious brain food, with illustrated pitching instructions from the Cincinnati Reds ace hurler.
This sturdy cereal carton is complete and intact, with securely attached flaps at top and bottom, including a short bottom flap that's printed with the identification "12th Sport Series P.1788 Box No. 1". The graphics remain distinct and the colors are strong. Wear is moderate, with a few tears noted on the top flaps, and creasing on the side panels. There's also a crease near the left edge of the back panel. Despite these conditions, this octogenarian box displays handsomely, with fantastic nostalgic appeal.
