Description

Renowned barnstorming team The House of David was promoted provocatively, with this 1931 Thorpe's Service Press broadside poster. Sized at 8-1/2" x 13", this antique advertisement unapologetically touts "Thorpe's Michigan Midgets of Benton Harbor Michigan", referring to them as "Real Little Men near the 5 Foot height, Not A Boys Team". Seen next to this carnival-like announcement, is a picture of House of David baseball team founder Francis Thorpe. The sensationalism continues with the headlines "The Teenie-Weenies in Base Ball", and "Challenging the Whole World". The raving concludes at bottom, with the David and Goliath prod "Bring the Ladies and Children to see the Little Wonders, the Giant Killers, Perform their version of the Great American Pastime". The reverse side is printed with a Radio Talk press release dated March 1st, 1931. Condition is Gd.
