Description

Esteemed managers Connie Mack and Red Dooin are pictured on the front of this 1912 Philadelphia Athletics-Phillies pocket schedule. Sponsored by Green's Saloons, this antique publication is billed in full as "Pocket Guide, Home and Abroad Games, Athletics - Phillies Official Base Ball Schedule, 1912". The interior is printed with all 1912 games for the two teams, along with more advertising for Green's. An amusing poke at the New York Giants is seen on the back cover. This humorous epitaph reads "1911, In Memory of the Last Game of the World's Series, may they rest in Peace", with a line score grid and the names of the A's battery Bender and Thomas, winners of the 1911 World Series Game 6 clincher, followed by the names of Giants pitchers and catchers Ames, Wiltse, Marquard, Crandall, Meyers and Wilson, who surrendered 13 runs to the Athletics in the game. Printed on heavy stock, this well-preserved schedule takes the bidding field in solid EX condition, with distinct graphics.
