A scarce and handsome dead ball era relic surfaces, with the presentation of this 1913 Durham-Duplex Razor Company Pittsburgh Pirates/Cincinnati Reds pocket schedule. Serving as the razor brand's pitchman, Christy Mathewson has endorsed this trifold promotional piece. The New York Giants Hall of Fame ace is seen on the front in a distinct windup pose photograph, and the back is printed with a Mathewson facsimile signature and letter vouching for the Durham-Duplex Safe Razor with the declaration "I have used the Durham Duplex razor for a long time, and it has been my best friend in many a close shave". Along with 1913 home game schedules for the Pirates and the Reds, this antique advertisement also features a knowledge of the game contest question, with an illustration and a mail-in coupon. A point-of-sale validation line on the coupon is stamped with Pickering Hardware, a local Cincinnati retail store. This sturdy survivor reports as an attractive Vg+ example.
