Lot # 22: 1945 Babe Ruth Signed Check - Full JSA LOA

Bank a big time Hall of Famer signature, when you take receipt of this 1945 "Babe" Ruth signed check. Drawn on the Chase National Bank of New York, this check #440 is made payable to Life (magazine) in the amount of $10. The "Bambino" has signed as "G.H. Ruth" on the customary endorsement line at bottom-right on the obverse. Ruth's elegant black ink, steel-tip fountain pen signature is a broadly satisfying application. The accompanying LOA states "The check was filled out in the hand of Babe Ruth", and all of Ruth's writing presents neatly, including the date entry "Sept. 18, 45". One of the processing stamps on the reverse is for Time Inc., Life, Fortune, The Architectural Forum, which were periodical brands published under the Time Inc. banner. Though a square of tape staining has bled through from the reverse, this condition occurs at the left end of the check, and Ruth's prized signature is not affected.
